Free Legal Advice Clinics

A FLAC Phone Advice Clinic is a free confidential service that may provide the following:

• first stop assistance
• basic legal information
• advice – such as the next steps you need to take
• referral– to another appropriate and relevant service

Consultations last about 15-20 minutes.

Our volunteer legal advisors 

• may ask you questions about your legal situation
• may provide you with some basic legal advice
• may advise you to go to a private solicitor if your situation is complex and you need ongoing legal advice
• may refer you to the Legal Aid Board  If you are eligible for state support

You will speak to a FLAC Free Legal Advice Clinic volunteer who is fully qualified to practice law in Ireland.

Our Free Legal Advice Clinics are offered in conjunction with the Citizen Information Services (CIS)

• You can contact your local Citizen Information Centre (CIC)
• See Map below or visit https://centres.citizensinformation.ie/  to find your nearest centre.
• The CIC Information Officer will discuss your query with you. If they cannot answer your query they may make an appointment for you at a clinic, subject to availability.

No, our volunteer advisors cannot provide you with a second opinion.

• We may offer you a phone advice clinic appointment, but this session will only last 15-20 minutes.
• The service only provides basic legal advice
• If your situation is complex and you need ongoing legal advice you may be advised to go to a private solicitor
• If you are eligible for state support such as Legal Aid you may be referred to the Legal Aid Board

• We cannot recommend specific solicitors or law firms, but you can Find a Solicitor on the Law Society Website
