Your Legal Rights

To help you understand and claim your rights, FLAC provides basic free legal information online and over the phone. We also offer appointment-only legal advice clinics.

Organisations seeking legal assistance should contact our PILA project.

FLAC is not a substitute for state-funded legal aid services. You can learn more about the state civil legal aid service in our FLACsheet.

Step 2

If you can't find the answer above, call our Legal Info Line on 01 - 906 10 10.

We are currently experiencing a high volume of calls. Please check our Legal Information Menu above before calling.

Phoneline volunteers give basic legal information. They cannot give legal advice on your particular circumstances. You will not speak to a practicing solicitor. Depending on your query, you may be referred to other legal services, including the Legal Aid Board, a private solicitor or FLAC’s Free Legal Advice Clinics.

FLAC Legal Info Line opening hours
Monday to Friday 9.30am-1pm
Monday evenings 7pm-9pm

Calls cost no more than calls to a land line from any phone.

Step 3

Free Legal Advice Clinics

FLAC Clinics are mainly for those who are unable to afford advice from a lawyer in private practice. An appointment may be available where your query cannot be answered by online or phone information.

The service provided is once-off, initial, basic legal advice on your particular circumstances.

FLAC volunteer lawyers cannot provide legal representation, ongoing legal assistance or second opinions for people who already have legal advice, or who have a solicitor acting on their behalf.

FLAC has limited resources and our employment clinics prioritise employees. We are not in a position to advise employers.
