New Class Actions resource published by PILA

PILA has just produced new FAQ on class actions and their availability (or rather, lack thereof!) in Ireland. Click here to read the FAQ. PILA has identified that the unavailability of class actions in Ireland is a barrier to public interest litigation. Class actions are proceedings taking by an individual or small group acting on behalf of a big group, and are not possible in Ireland except in very limited circumstances.

We also have FAQs available on other barriers to public interest litigation - protective costs orders, mootness, standing, and non-justiciability of socio-economic rights.

You can find more barriers to public interest litigation resources such as case summaries here on the PILA website.
